WMC Varsity vs Holland High School (63 - 68) Loss Norton Shores - On a day where school was cancelled at WMC, the Warriors took to the court on Wednesday night and battled to the end vs the Holland High Dutch. The Warriors had a tough start to the game only scoring 16 points in the first half. At halftime WMC was down 34-16 and had their work cut out for them in the 2nd half. "We came out sluggish again tonight in the first half and it took two quarters for us to wake up and start playing basketball," WMC Coach Matt Haveman said. The second half WMC flipped the switch and held Holland to 9 third quarter points while the Warriors scored twenty in the 3rd quarter. WMC clawed their way back into the game during the third but really got going offensively in the 4th quarter, scoring twenty points in the final quarter to force overtime and eventually double overtime before coming up just short to end the game. "Wow what a game, we talk about basketball being a game of runs and that was true tonight. We played back-to-back games and for some reason it took us two quarters to really dig in. Holland came out ready to play and we simply did not in the first half," said Matt Haveman. "I challenged our guys at halftime, and they responded with a great 2nd half and two overtimes, overcoming an 18-point deficit is tough, and we almost pulled it off tonight." Brody Haveman scored 18 points, Tyson Annema scored 16 and Gavriel Modderman scored 10 points to lead the Warriors. WMC is off until next Wednesday December 17 when they take on Comstock Park at home, 7 PM
