In a wild game that came down to the final possession, the Warriors found themselves in a playoff atmosphere on Friday night. WMC fell behind early but put together a strong push to close the third quarter and carried that momentum throughout the fourth. Belding’s #23 was lights out in the first half—despite throwing multiple defenders at her, she continued to knock down shots. We adjusted in the second half, working to run her off the three-point line and having our help-side defense rotate earlier. The change helped slow their rhythm and sparked our comeback. WMC had an opportunity to tie the game with 19 seconds remaining but couldn’t convert on a baseline out-of-bounds play. A late three made it a two-point game, but we were unable to get a foul on the final inbound to stop the clock. “Our team showed resiliency and trust in one another as we climbed out of the hole we dug. Belding gave us everything they had, and instead of rolling over, our girls hung in. To battle back like that and fall just short stings, but it will be fuel to our fire as we practice over Christmas break.” Madie Folkema led the way with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 steals.
