WMC Boys Varsity Basketball Varsity vs Belding High School (59 - 51) Win Belding, MI The WMC boys' basketball team took the hour drive east to Belding to take on the Black Knights on Friday night and came away with a hard fought 59-51 win. "Belding battled all night, we had a solid gameplan to defend their two big kids and executed that plan well tonight," said WMC Coach Matt Haveman WMC led at the half 25-24 with balanced scoring from Gavriel Modderman with 7, Lucas Weare with 6, and Brody Haveman with 5 first half points. "We talked at halftime about stopping some straight-line drives that Belding got in the first half and generally ramping up our pressure in the second half, we did a good job on defense tonight." "Braeden Olsen is a kid who's worked really hard on his 3-point shot. He shot the ball really well at opportune times in the game tonight," said Haveman. "I really like how we overcame adversity on the road tonight; We had a couple injuries in the first half and the team responded by raising the bar in the 2nd half." WMC was led by Gavriel Modderman with 15, Lucas Weare with 10, Tyson Annema with 10 and Braeden Olsen with 9. The Warriors are off until January 6 when they travel to Mason County Central @ 7PM
