WMC Drops Another Tight Game to Fremont

Norton Shores - On a night of celebration between WMC and Grand Haven Christian Schools, the WMC boys' basketball team dropped a thriller to Fremont 57-53. The Warriors scored 14 first quarter points, Quint Menefee started the scoring with an acrobatic driving layup drawing the foul and making the free throw. Zach Weare had two first quarter 3's and the Warriors were down 29-20 at the break. "We came out sluggish in the 1st but gathered some momentum going into half," said WMC coach Matt Haveman. Zach Weare scored a team high 7 points in the 3rd quarter as WMC trimmed the Packer lead to 40-32 at the end of the third quarter. Tyson Annema, Lucas Weare and Braeden Olson all stepped up for the Warriors in the 4th quarter, scoring a combined 17 points. "This team kept fighting for 32 minutes tonight, I'm proud of them for how they kept the pressure on late in the game." said Haveman. Zach Weare led the Warriors with 15 points, Tyson Annema with 11and Brody Haveman with 8. Mosen Green led the Packers with 18 points, Javon Basso had 10 points. WMC closes out the regular season on Saturday at 3 PM vs Allendale at VanAndel Arena in Grand Rapids.
