Grand Rapids, MI- The WMC boys' basketball team capped off the regular season losing to Allendale 50-44 at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon. "What a great environment for high school basketball, we played with some grit but in the end, Allendale was just better today," said WMC Coach Matt Haveman. "I love this team, every game on our schedule we battled to the end, they never quit. 11 of our 18 games were against schools that are 2 to 3 and even 4 times the size of WMC. every single game was close." "I've said to myself many times during the season, this team is pretty good entertainment for $5," said Haveman. The Warriors jumped out to 13-10 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but trailed Allendale 23-20 at halftime. Lucas Weare led the Warriors with 12 points in the 1st half. WMC continued to battle in the 2nd half, but Allendale connected on 3 critical 3-point shots in the 4th quarter to pull away in the end. Lucas Weare led all scorers with 20 points on the night, Tyson Annema and Brody Haveman each had 6 and Gavriel Modderman had 5 points on the day. Bundy led the Falcons with 18 points. WMC earned a 1st round bye in the tournament and plays Wednesday February 25 at Mason County Central 7PM vs the winner of Mason County and Holton.
