Girls Tennis Builds Experience at GMAA Competition The girls tennis team faced several tough teams at the GMAA tournament last weekend. Competing against experienced players helps us refine our skills and continue developing. Our girls rose to the challenge and delivered several standout moments. At 1 Singles, Junior Ava Post competed against the top players in the area. She learned to adjust her game and use her strong net play to take several games from her Reeths Puffer opponent. At 2 Singles, Junior Sophia Fries challenged her Reeths Puffer opponent by forcing a third set tiebreaker. At 3 Singles, Sophomore Hadley Noonan's earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Muskegon Catholic Central. At 4 Singles, Senior Drew Coleman forced a third set tiebreaker against her Whitehall opponent. Our 1 Doubles team, Seniors Annalise Bonnema and Meaghan Van Bruggen also took their Muskegon Catholic Central Opponents to a third set tiebreaker. Seniors Evie Zenz and Mia De Jonge had a three hour long marathon match at 2 Doubles against Whitehall that they narrowly lost in a third set tiebreak. Then they followed up that performance with a win against Muskegon Catholic Central, 6-4, 6-1. Our 3 Doubles team, Sophomore Linnea Larson and Senior Kasey Folkema started the day with a win against Reeths Puffer that also required a third set tiebreaker, 6-2, 4-6 (10-6). At 4 Doubles, Seniors Lauren Olsen and Audrey Kingshott had a tight match against Whitehall and earned the win with a final score of 7-5, 6-4.
