Varsity vs West Michigan Aviation Academy (2 - 1) Warriors Down Aviators in Top-Ranked Showdown In a matchup featuring two of the area’s top-ranked teams — WMC ranked No. 1 in Division 4 and the WMAA Aviators ranked No. 5 in Division 3 — it was the Warriors who came out on top with a hard-fought 2-1 victory. WMC controlled possession early and created several quality scoring opportunities. Their pressure paid off when Lainey Postema found the back of the net off an assist from Eve Pollock to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 heading into halftime. The Aviators would even the match in the second half after capitalizing on a dangerous set piece opportunity. The Warriors responded quickly and regained control of the match. The game-winning goal came from GillyAnne, assisted by Molly Visser. WMC finished the game with a 13-5 advantage in shots over the Aviators. The Warriors return to action Wednesday, May 27, when they host a district semifinal matchup against either MCC or Potters House.
