The WMC Cross Country teams started the season off strong at the Fuirtport Calvary Christian Eagle Invitational. Led by Owen Sytsema's first ever individual win, the Boy's team took 4 of the top 7 spots to easily outpace 6 other teams and take home the 1st Place Team trophy. Top finishers for the Warriors were Sytsema (1st,16:34), Josiah Scholma (4th, 17:40), Sam Hwang (6th, 17:51), Eli Morse (7th, 17:53), Micah Scholma (18th, 19:38), Jack Walter (42nd, 22:34) and Xavier Brown (43rd, 22:42). It was a great start to the season, showing us that a summer of consistent training has set us up well to aspire to some exciting things as a team over the next 10 weeks! The Girls team also had a strong start, coming up with a 3rd place finish out of 6 teams who toed the line. The Warriors were led by Leah Sneller's 2nd place finish (20:45). Rounding out the top 7 today were Kyla Zuidema (8th, 21:50), Rochelle Liu (12th, 22:56), Lena Studer (22nd, 24:07), Sophia Gammon (32nd, 24:49), Annabelle Walter (37th, 25:22) and Martina Choliz (40th, 26:04). We have doubled the size of our squad from last year by welcoming 6 new freshmen and look forward to much development individually and as a team over the course of the season!
