EAST GRAND RAPIDS—The Western Michigan Christian Warriors held on for another tie against East Grand Rapids Monday night, marking their third draw of the season and extending their unbeaten streak to four games. The contest was a battle for possession throughout, with both teams limiting each other in the attacking third. East Grand Rapids sent a few dangerous balls across the goal mouth in the opening minutes, but there was no final touch to trouble WMC goalkeeper Colin Van Bruggen. The Warriors turned up the pressure late in the first half and started to swing the momentum their way. Tyson Annema lit up the scoreboard for the visitors after heading in a corner kick from Carter Heimiller with seven minutes left in the half. The score was the lone shot on goal for either team in the first stanza. East Grand Rapids evened the game 12 minutes into the second half, with a Pioneer barely beating Van Bruggen to the ball to poke it in after a scramble inside the six-yard box. The Warriors were close to finding the winner off a couple of free kicks that were redirected just over or just wide, but ultimately the draw held. The Pioneers held a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Van Bruggen made two saves. The Warriors (1-3-3; #9 D4) host Kalamazoo Christian (#5 D4) on Wednesday.
