Norton Shores - The Western Michigan Christian Warriors began their quest for a fourth straight Division 4 state championship in boys soccer with a tough 2-1 loss to Cedar Springs on opening night of the 2025 season. The Warriors and Redhawks battled evenly throughout the game, but Cedar Springs struck first. The Warriors responded with a goal from Mason Bonnema assist by Hudson Fair) later in the first half. Cedar Springs broke the tie and found the game-winner with 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Warriors (0-1) outshot the Redhawks 10-6. Goalkeepers Colin Van Bruggen and Gavriel Modderman split time in net for WMC, each collecting two saves. WMC will head to Spring Lake for a match on Saturday.
