NORTON SHORES — The Western Michigan Christian boys soccer team responded to an early punch with a flurry of its own Thursday night, powering past Hartford 6-2. The visiting Huskies struck first off a corner kick, but the No. 7-ranked Warriors wasted no time answering. Just 30 seconds later, WMC leveled the match, then tacked on another goal two minutes after that— a stunning three-goal burst in the opening five minutes. From there, the Warriors controlled the match and never looked back. Anderson Leffring and Braedon Hoffman each scored twice to pace the WMC attack. Hudson Fair buried a penalty kick, and Theo Buursma added a goal to round out the scoring. Assists came from Leffring, Fair (2), Mason Bonnema and Seth Moorhead. The Warriors’ defense settled in after the early Hartford tally, limiting chances for the Huskies. WMC keepers Colin Van Bruggen (four saves) and Gavriel Modderman (one save) split time to earn the win, while the Warriors held an 18-7 advantage in shots on goal. With the win, the Div. 4 seventh-ranked Warriors improved to 7-3-4. WMC travels to Div 2 12th-ranked Allendale Saturday.
