NORTON SHORES - Western Michigan Christian rolled past Ravenna 5-0 in Tuesday’s Division 4 district semifinal, advancing to Thursday’s championship match against North Muskegon. The Warriors will be playing for their fourth straight district title. WMC (12-4-5) controlled every facet of the match, holding a 31-0 advantage in shots on goal, but had to work to solve a stellar performance from Ravenna’s goalkeeper, who made 24 saves while defenders cleared two more off the line. The breakthrough came nine minutes in, when Carter Heimiller slipped a pass to Braedon Hoffman, who finished inside the near post for what proved to be the game-winner. Mason Bonnema doubled the lead before halftime, and the Warriors poured it on after the break with goals from Anderson Leffring (2) and Heimiller. Juan DeJonge, Hudson Fair, and Tyson Annema (2) added assists in the victory. “First, congratulations to the Ravenna goalkeeper for a fantastic showing,” WMC coach Ben Buursma said. “He did a phenomenal job frustrating our attacks. But in the end, the guys did what they needed to move on. The wing play out of Mason, B (Hoffman) and Huddy was really good all night and generated so many opportunities. We’re looking forward to what should be a great matchup on Thursday and keeping our season rolling.” The Warriors, ranked #2 in Division 4, will take on #3 North Muskegon at the Norsemen’s home field Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
